Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship 2026

The Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship 2026–2027 is a fully funded international scholarship for students who wish to pursue diploma, undergraduate, or master’s degree programs in Brunei Darussalam. The scholarship is offered by the Government of Brunei to attract high-quality international students to its public higher institutions.

  • Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA)
  • Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB)
  • Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB)
  • Politeknik Brunei (PB)

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Open to international students (including ASEAN, Commonwealth, and OIC member countries)
  • Age limit (as of 31 July 2025):
    • 18–25 years for Diploma and Undergraduate programs
    • Not more than 35 years for Master’s programs
  • Required language proficiency: English, Malay, or Arabic (depending on program)
  • Applicants must not be permanent residents of Brunei Darussalam
  • The scholarship cannot be held concurrently with another scholarship or grant
  • Scholarship holders are not allowed to work during the study period
  • Scholars are not encouraged to bring family members
  • Upon completion, scholars must leave Brunei Darussalam immediately

  • All documents must be submitted in PDF, Word, or JPG format (compressed ZIP folder allowed)
  • Maximum file size: 10 MB
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered

Program Duration

  • Diploma: 3 years
  • Bachelor’s Degree: 4 years (8 semesters, full-time)
  • Master’s Degree: 12–24 months

Scholarship Benefits (Coverage)

The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support, including:

  • Full tuition fee exemption (including registration, examination, and orientation fees)
  • Monthly allowance:
    • BND 500 (personal allowance)
    • BND 150 (meals allowance)
  • Annual book allowance: BND 600
  • Free accommodation at university or polytechnic residential colleges
  • Return economy air tickets (to Brunei at the start and back home upon completion)
  • Baggage allowance upon completion:
    • BND 250 (within ASEAN)
    • BND 500 (outside ASEAN)
  • Comprehensive health insurance for the duration of the scholarship

Required Documents

Applicants must prepare and upload the following documents:

  • Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts
  • Certified English translations (if documents are not in English)
  • Certified copy of birth certificate and passport
  • Recommendation letters from referees (C1 and C2)

  2. Additionally:
    • UBD applicants must also apply via the UBD online portal
    • UTB applicants must also apply via the UTB online portal
  3. Applicants may be invited for an interview or language assessment, if required
